News item under the caption “Delayed Head Constables promotion” published on 3.6.09 at page No.7. It has been mentioned therein that the relevant file sent to Chief Secretariat and returned with the concurrence of Lieutenant Governor to DGP office, was left lying without any action taken on it for the past twenty days. This News item is not factually true. The file of promotion of Constables as Head Constables is not sent to Chief Secretariat or the Lieutenant Governor before publishing the same. This rejoinder should be published with the same prominence as the earlier news item sought to be corrected. The veracity of news items pertaining to Police Department may be ascertained before publishing the same

This is reference to a column published in your weekly (September 23-29), stating that one of the Senior Officer has refused to give approval for payment of remuneration of police personnel deployed on election duty in Lok Shaba Elections 2009. In this regard, it is being clarified that this is wrong information and the file is currently being processed by Home Department, Govt. of Puducherry

In conformity with professional ethics, to share right information with the public, it is requested the before publishing of such news item having a bearing on the morale of police force, correctness of such information shall be cross checked with senior Officer. This shall henceforth be taken into account for strict compliance in future as well.

"Police Officers immediate transfers" in whcih Inspector Palanivelu and SI Dhansegaran had gone for beach duty belatedly but DGP came little earlier.  So both Inspector and SI were transferred to PAP.  This news item is not factually true.

The beach road stretch between busy street and old distillery is vehicle free zone vide GO MS No. 14545/84/D1/Misc. dt. 18.05.1989 and vide GO NO. 4/DGP/SECY/2010-23 dt. 16.02.2010 for the timings morning 05.30 to 07.30 and evening 05.30 to 10.00 on all days to protect the interest of the walkers and visitors to beach road.

The transfer of Inspector and SI by DGP was only on the poor performance of the aforesaid officers.  Hence the rejoinder.
